According to the bylaws, the ESFH is a European non-profit organization. The purposes of the Society are as follows:

  • To function as an European Society for all professionals, involved and interested in haemapheresis
  • To make available to patients through apheresis units in blood banks, hospitals and other institutions a safe and adequate haemapheresis technique for the collection of donor cells or the removal of blood constituents.
  • To encourage advance and certify high standards of administrative and technical performance in the field of haemapheresis to apheresis units in blood banks, hospitals and other institutions.
  • To foster scientific investigation, clinical application, education and exchanges of information and ideas, relating to haemapheresis and allied fields in clinical and laboratory medicine.
  • All purposes which benefit safe and adequate haemapheresis practice in patient or donor care

The ESFH holds regular meetings and educational meetings with a General Assembly every 2 years at a time and place designated by the Board of Directors.
